Where to celebrate Fourth of July in the Hill Country.

Update: Two Hill Country celebrations have been canceled or postponed due to dry conditions.

Happy birthday America! This year, the good ol' US of A is turning 246 years old in July. The time flies doesn't it? While there is plenty to do in San Antonio for the Fourth of July weekend, you might want to explore the Hill Country for some Independence Day fireworks. Even though this Fourth of July falls on a Monday, cities throughout the Hill Country are putting on a show to celebrate the birth of the nation.

Here are a few spots in the Hill Country to go see fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Boerne will be hosting its annual free firework show at City Park with the show expected to get going around 9:15 p.m., around 30 minutes after the sun sets. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets during the show for more comfort. Pets are welcome, but due to city ordinances must be on a leash. Parking spots will be available at City Park and Boerne Champion High School. The fireworks display will be rescheduled if the weather is deemed too windy or it rains, according to a news release.

New Braunfels' Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular, sponsored by H-E-B, will be launching off fireworks at 9:15 p.m. at Landa Park. The fireworks will be visible from all over Landa Park, the golf course at Comal Springs, the Fredericksburg baseball fields, and Fischer Park. Seating at the golf course begins at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., the J. Abram Band will perform and the Remax Skydiving Team will parachute into Landa Park before the fireworks display, according to a release.

The 42 annual SummerFest firework show will begin at 9:30 p.m. with parking available at the San Marcos Activity Center, public library, city park, and Bobcat Stadium. The event is sponsored by the City of San Marcos, the San Marcos Noon Lions Club, and radio station KTSW, according to a release. There will also be a children's patriotic costume contest where the winner will receive a prize pack from the parks and recreation department. For more information about the costume contest visit their website.

A 20-minute-long Fourth of July firework show will rocket off at 9 p.m. Firework seekers can watch the show from the Hays Performing Arts Center. The event is sponsored by H-E-B and Plum Creek Golf Course. The city is asking pet owners to keep their animals at home to shield them from the noise, according to a release.
